Implementation Systems GPS™
School Systems Self-Assessment
How to use this tool
This is not a quiz. There are no right answers. This is a mirror — and the only way it works is if you're honest. Answer based on what is actually true in your building right now, not what you hope is true. You have 8 minutes. Stay in your own head.

GET CLEAR ON CURRENT REALITY
What does your data actually show — right now, in this building, with this staff and these students?
1. What does your student data currently show? Name 2–3 specific things — not summaries, specifics.
Think: attendance patterns, screener results, behavior trends, assessment gaps.
2. What does your adult or implementation data show? What do you know about how your systems are actually running?
Think: are interventions being delivered as designed? Is PD changing practice? Are coaches spending time where the need is?
3. What data does your school collect that nobody can explain the purpose of?
Be honest. Which assessments are on your calendar because they've always been there?
P
PRIORITIZE WHAT MATTERS MOST
Given everything the data is showing — what is the one place where focused attention will have the greatest impact right now?
4. If you could only focus your leadership team on ONE thing this year — what would the data say it should be?
Not what your authorizer says. Not what feels most urgent. What does the data say will move the most students and adults forward?
5. What are you currently trying to fix that is competing with your most important priority?
Be honest about how many things are on your plate. Which ones are diluting your focus?
6. Who on your team needs to be aligned on this priority — and are they?
Think about coaches, APs, grade level chairs, data leads. Is everyone pointing in the same direction?
S
STRENGTHEN SYSTEMS FOR SUSTAINABLE GROWTH
What structures, routines, and supports need to be in place to make progress stick?
7. What system is most holding back your priority area right now?
Think: scheduling, meeting structures, roles, data routines, communication, accountability. What's the infrastructure gap?
8. What happens to your most important work when you're out of the building for a week?
This question will tell you everything about whether your systems are real or whether they depend on you.
9. What routine or structure, if it existed consistently, would make the most difference for your team?
Think about what your team keeps reverting to doing inconsistently. What would make it automatic?
